Could Have Been Worse

Lost tourist looking for the Galleria. He's in the left turn only lane, here. Nikki, Alasdair and I are in the lane to his right, which is left turn or straight. He goes straight, I go left. He's in a big SUV I'm in my Mazda 6. He wins. It was a low speed collision. Everyone was fine. Alasdair barely even work up.I am resisting the urge to buy a new car. So far.

You want a piece of advice? I think you should have gone straight.

I'm just glad that all ya'll are okay! Only the car came out scratched.

Buying a new car is so much fun; however, so much expensive!

Bruce: Thanks, I'll remember that next tim I think about making a left turn.

Jen: Yeah. I'll see what the body shop reckons. As long as there's no frame damage I'm happy to drive this one for another few years.

Must've been scary for you especially with Alsadair in the car...was there a lot of shouting? Did you get their insurance details?

Ian said...

Nah, no shouting at all. Bloke accepted it was his fault straight away and I've got the claim in with his company. He hasn't accepted liability with them yet, but he was on his holidays so they've probably not been able to get in touch with him.

At least he had insurance, don't lots of Americans drive around without it?

Worried about Ike?

Ian said...

Yeah, they do, so it was pretty fortunate. Though I have uninsured driver's insurance on my own policy and your premiums don't go up if it's not your fault, even if you make a big claim.

Not too worried about Ike yet. The GFDL model just shifted north enough to give us a very bad time, but it hasn't had a good handle on this storm so far. The UKMET model has predicted it pretty well and moved South. We'll know more about what it's doing by tomorrow morning. We're not in an evac zone, so plan to shelter in place whatever happens. Got lots of water, food and booze so as long as my brand spanking new huge bay window doesn't get a tree through it we're okay.

Glad you're all ok - at least now your car will fit right in in Houston. I always tried to steer clear of the ones with great big dents in them..!

Happy you are all safe. Don't try that one again unless you are driving a Niva...
