Waking Up
There's usually a nice quiet period between waking up and realising he's hungry. This is prime photo time.

I did not notice the bear's bum until you mentioned it!
You are very lucky to have this 'nice quiet period' in which to take photos. Magnus can go from sound asleep to screaming with hunger in 0.2 seconds.
I'm tempted to make Jeremy Clarkson analogies...but I won't!
