Finally

As my wife has pointed out, in increasingly forceful ways, I haven't even finished showing you the Singapore pictures yet, never mind the Thailand ones. This is not entirely because I am lazy, but also because I like to take my time and write about the pictures individually. Nikki suggested a Picasa web gallery, which is, as all my wife's ideas are, a great one. However, I don't like redirecting folk and having them leave comments in different places that I rarely visit. Thank goodness then, for the embed slideshow feature of Picasa that I only just noticed. Not sure I like how they've implemented comments, but you can turn them on or off, by clicking on the little speech bubble that pops up when you move your mouse to the bottom left. Enjoy.

Nice pictures.

The Picasa embed slideshow feature is way cool (as young people probably don't say anymore), and it appears that you can set up a feed for comments which I'll have to look into.

Just wanted to add, for the benefit of those of you who speak proper English and not the US version, that the Embed Slideshow option (along with some other features) only appears if you set your language to English (US). It's just one of those weird Google things, I guess.

The feed for your comments is on already I think:

Just add a feed page element and point it there.

That's weird about the language option though. Must be because they want to optimise the bandwidth by reducing the number of u's in the text.

I love the photo's. I also love the photo that you chose of you and Nikki! It's great! Nikki's smile is beautiful!

Me really likey the new layout, was trying to find for meself. . .

I think I needed this "comment disclaimer" for mine as well. I don't like the taste of soap in the mouth. Never did.

Fi took that photo in Galveston when we took a drive down at Christmas. I think Nikki looks so happy because she was stealing my body heat.

Thanks for the steer about the comments feed. That'll make my life a million times better.

Um. Ian, do you know how to have your blog notify you of people whom may have blogged a comment after you've moved onto another blog post? Like you posted previously, you missed some yourself, b/c there wasn't something alerting to you of comments from past posts. Aside from Blogger e-mailing us (I hardly check that anymore), do you know of anything else for this purpose?

Things that make you go "hmmmmmm."

You could add a comment feed, like I have, that lists the last five comments. Would that help? You don't have to limit it to five, you can go more.

You can also subscribe to your own blog comments' RSS feed, which would tell you and not clutter up your interface. If that makes no sense to you, let me know. I'm sure I can figure out how to do it in Safari.

You can also set up blogger to email you any time someone comments on your own blog. It's in the blog settings somewhere.

Great pics!!! Brought back good memories.

Was that Chili Crab I saw??? Did you have some while you were there with those Chinese buns?? So dee-lish!

Ian said...

Yes! The chili crab was awesome. It was a food stall place (a hawker market?) out by the airport, seriously addictive stuff. We only had time to go once, but probably the best meal we had in Singapore.

Yeah, that chili crab is one of my favorite Singaporean dishes. mmmm.

Although I never tried it at a hawker stand, you were definitely in the best part of S'pore for it. The East coast of S'pore is known for great seafood, especially the chili crab! Mmmm!

The first time I ever tried it was on a little island off of Singapore called Paulu Ubin. It was cool, we took a bum boat there...I think our captain was drunk. The restaurant was interesting...open air, dogs walking around...but the food was great!
