The Lawn

Houston has a ready supply of cheap labor, so Nikki and I reckon we can get the lawn cut for about $20 every 2 weeks, or roughly $320 per year if the grass grows for 32 weeks.

The lawn hasn't needed cutting yet, so hopefully we bought the house after the grass stopped growing for this year. Whilst at the local home improvement place this weekend I did notice an interesting sale going on...

The first one there only had one cup holder, so obviously it's no good to me. The cheapest John Deere looked a bargain at $1300. Now if I did the lawn myself, using one of these babies, it would pay for itself in only 4 years...now that's a bargain. Posted by Picasa

Or . . . you could be like my husband and buy all the fancy-schmancy man-toys for the lawn (yes, this includes a back-pack "leaf blower"), b/c you absolutely PROMISE to do the mowing yourself. Yes, every week. I mean, "why pay someone when you can do it yourself - cheaper," he so said. "No reason to hire someone," he concludes.

Only to turn around 2-months later and offhandly remark, "maybe we should get someone to come cut the lawn every now and then. . . "

Aaaaaaaargh!

Thank God I love the man.

Yes. I don't think I'm going to buy a leaf blower because I really need a leaf hoover. I need to collect the leaves somewhere in order to avoid them blowing into the pool.

You've convinced me mate, over to you Nikki...

Also they must have somewhere in Texas where you can race those things in the off season. You could trick it out with expensive anodised aluminium body kit, it could be a second career!

Speaking of which, you are, I'm sure, familiar with the MTV phenomenon Pimp My Ride? Well, I was casually flipping through the TV channels last night and stumbled upon this absolute work of genius on CMT (Country Music Television, as if you need telling). It was compelling television.
