Brrr

Some of you will be particularly unimpressed with our little flurry, but it's snowing in Houston this evening and temperatures are close to freezing. The 8 white streaks in his picture are actual, genuine, proper snowflakes:

This wouldn't bother us in the slightest if our sodding heating was working. Having replaced the ignitor and control board in March we were a little surprised to find that either the ignitor or the control board are knackered and we can't get the parts until tomorrow. We are not alone, as evidenced by the scrum around the space heaters in Lowe's when I went to pick one up for Alasdair's room. The technician reckons all the power surges during Ike did a load of damage as they've been flat out busy all day.

The little man is not bothered...

...but he is easily distracted by gadgets.

Gadgets. Like father like son.

Oh. Right. The snow. Weird you have snow in H-town! While it's really cold here, we have yet to see the elusive flake here in our Longhorn City! And we are further north than you? ? ?

Jen: I know, you yankees to our North are supposed to soak up all this cold snow for us...get to it!

Mum: Yep. It definitely came in handy yesterday. I dare say he'll be in it most of today too. I'm pretty sure we're colder than Stornoway today.

We were 2.5C today so sounds like you are colder than us! That's quite freaky isn't it? I even remember Dec 2001 in Boston wearing a summer dress outside as it was hot weather.

Gadgets!! Good man! (I may or may not be typing this into my phone in the loo!) Oddly, despite the fact that it hasn't gone above 3 degrees in about 8 weeks* now it still hasn't snowed.... Gutted!

*I may be exaggerating a tiny bit.

Vikki: Freaky is one word for it. Another word is...annoying!

Alex: TMI dude, TMI.

Well, at least you have snow! In Moscow, its about the same temp, but zero snow...

Thankfully we're warming up through the weekend. I imagine Moscow will soon head in the other direction.

Ian, I am not impressed with your so called snow. It looks very much like moth caught in the spotlight.
Did they close schools and highways this time again?

No, most people even made it into work, which sucks. I mean, we should get snow days to go along with our Hurricane days.
