Sleepy Bird

No, not my jet-lagged wife. This little fella:

He decided to take a nap on the ledge above our porch last night and huddled himself up into a ball that, in the dark, freaked me out a little bit. He must have slept well though since he didn't even move when I shone a torch on him and took a photo. Nikki wanted me to poke him with a stick to see if he was dead but I rejected that plan. This morning, he was gone. Probably got annoyed at the train driving mofos. Posted by Picasa

That bird looks cold! And HUGE! Did you figure out what type it was?

Golly. . . Scared and lonely. Has he been back since the other night?

Yes, he came back last night. He's not too big and I've no idea what type he is. Hopefully he's no relation to the one living in the birdhouse in the back garden, 'cos we don't want any more living around our place.

It's a bird! I though it was a hedgehog! Did you ever steal your camera back from Jen?

It's definitely a bird. I thought at first it was some kind of nest full of stingy beasties, but the tail is a bit of a giveaway.

Yes, we got the camera back. Had to hire a crack commando unit from the Los Angeles underground, but it was worth it.

Are you 2 out of the country again? What's going on?

No, we're both in the country for once, as are Nikki's parents, so we took some time off. Back now though.
