Muscat

I arrived in Muscat on Friday night, though it was after midnight by the time I got out of the airport. My bags decided to stay in Dubai. Mustafa, who I was travelling with, re-routed to Karachi, as the folks in London wouldn't let him go to Oman with less than 6 months on his passport, despite the fact he already a visa issued by the Oman government. Anyway, those of you bored enough to follow my Where's Ian thing hopefully got an idea of the epic scale of my journey.

Muscat itself is a beautiful city. I love Arabic architecture. It's all curves and domes, not so many right angles.

Here's the view from my hotel room:

And here's my hotel from the beach below:

Looks lovely! Much better than stinky "Galvetraz" that I was at today...

Very nice, gonna pop over to Cyprus for the weekend? :-)

Shanks: Thanks. There's quite a bit of filtering going on, obviously, I was chuffed with the way it turned out.

Alli: It's quite pretty, yes. It did remind me of Galveston a bit, cos I had to walk miles out to get to swimming depth, it just gently slopes away for ages.

Alex: Sorry bruv, I'd love to, but I don't really get a weekend. I'm a 7 day a week kind of guy. Back in Houston Friday afternoon.

Will you have any time to play? It looks awesome! Did Mus make it there too, finally?

Be safe. Travel well.

Yeah, Mus is here. He got in the next evening. We won't have much time for touristy stuff, but I hope to make it to Muttrah Souk tomorrow night and I'm going to try and go to Marks and Spencers tonight to pick up chocolate biscuits for Nikki.

Thanks. We did get some lovely sunsets from the hotel. When it's not Ramadan you can sit out on the terrace with a beer watching the sun go down, which sounds like a fine way to spend an evening.
