Man, last week dragged.
I blame spending the weekend before in Galveston. It was fun, but too much beer and sun, coupled with not enough sleep, is never going to set you up for a productive week. This past weekend, on the other hand, was perfect. Nikki cooked three delicious dinners in a row (Chicken Chasseur, Cod with lemon and parsley and a Shepherd's Pie), we stayed in and watched great movies (Last King of Scotland and Hot Fuzz) and had a few, but not too many drinks (Mandolina Pinot Grigio on Friday, Full Moon Pale Rye Ale among other beers on Saturday). A little bit of gardening, a lot of floating around in the pool, I think we left our place for a total of 4 hours between 7pm Friday and 8am Monday. I even managed to kill most, if not all, of the little blighters that were hanging around my pepper plant, with soap and water, so I think I'm still organic.

I miss Galveston. I know people make fun of the place, but it's still the ocean and I love the ocean. We always had great fun there!
This is how much "Hot Fuzz" rocks - we owned it the day it came out on DVD.
I am regretting now that we did not dig up our pool in our backyard. Could definitely use a nice big puddle of cool water these last few weeks. For sure.
Glad your back - I hope to be so soon too.
I love Galveston too. Yes the water is silty, yes the beach sometimes has loads of seaweed on it, yes I-45 is a mess, but still - an hour in your car and you're in the ocean!
Having a pool rocks. You really should dig it up. The grass constantly dying is natures way of telling you to dig that bad boy up.
"too much beer and sun"?
i didn't realize that was possible.
Sounds like you 2 had the perfect weekend. I love those kind of weekends..cooking, movies, & good wine/beer.
Yeah, Galvetrez, I mean Galveston isn't too bad. I see it a little differently now that I am on "the island" all the time for school. You'd think with how close I am to the beach now, I'd be there all the time. Amazingly, still haven't had any Galveston beach time at all this year. We tried this past weekend, but too hot & dangerous UV/ozone levels. Grr!
Beach time is always fun.
I am sooo jealous that you have a pool. We are seriously considering buying a house with one this next go around.
Too much beer and sun is totally possible. Not at the time of course, but by the following Thursday when you drag yourself into bed at 8:30pm, the thought occurs that maybe you had a little too much beer and sun.
Yeah, I guess if you're down there all the time you'd take the beach for granted a bit. Instead of buying a house with a pool, why don't you just get a beach house in Galveston? Cuts your commute, the ocean's right there and you can give it to me for weekends.
We have a beach here in Stonehaven but it's too cold to do much for about 360 days of the year.
Stop going on about alcohol!!! I'm having big red wine cravings now! What have I done? Now that pregnancy ticker on our blog looks like the countdown til I can have a drink. I've told Iain - champagne in the delivery room :-)
You told Iain champagne? Tactical mistake that, you'll almost certainly get a bottle of this stuff.
A beach house would be fun, but if I had the extra scratch for one...not sure I'd want one in Galvatraz....http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Galvatraz
But we have considered a lake house some day....
Galvatraz is funny. Luckily though, the beach houses are at the less ghetto end of the island.
I don't like beer.
