Summertime...

Sorry it's been so long since we blogged at you, but we've been busy:
Been working in the yard. A lot of sweat in the Texas sun for one flipping strawberry that a bird pecked half of before I picked it. Doesn't the other half look pretty though?

Been painting too, a delicious shade of Lemon Ice. Mmmm. Now where did I put the lid of the paint tin?

We've also been trying to figure out what keeps killing Nikki's plants...no ideas so far.

Love the video!
Did you eat the strawberry or did the bird-pecking put you off?

The bird pecking put me off. Does that make me a wimp?

Vikki said...

no... but if you want to eat anything at all from our garden then you have to put up with nibble-holes from the beasties. I tend to cook things like apple crumble so the oven zaps any germs.

Ooh, I should have made a strawberry tart. At least no beasties nibble my cayenne peppers. Which are the only flipping things growing in the garden this year. We should have about 6 million figs in a couple of weeks though. They'll all turn ready at once and I'll have to harvest them or they'll fall to the ground and rot.

Your figs sound like our plums; we aren't big fans of plums so some fall on the lawn where they get eaten by various creatures. I took a photo of several red admirals on them last year. Mostly they get stood on by the boys. (Plums, not butterflies!)

I think we are witnessing a breakpoint in the evolution of species that will explain in hundred of thousands of years how dwarf rabbits turned into giraffes. Although... it might also be a dead end, since we neutered Tim before handing him out to you.

OMG! Tim's a PLANT killer?!

Wouldn't eat a bird-pecked strawberry. Bear Grylls would spin in his grave.... if he was dead!

Vikki: Butterflies I could handle. Our figs seem to attract little buzzy pests that then decide to bite me.

Bruno: Charles Darwin is going to be very angry at you...but not as angry is Tim should be.

Jen: Now, let's not jump to conclusions. That grainy security footage could show anyone.

Alex: But, but. Birds eat worms! Ew. Gross.

Bear Grylls is mad! We just saw him deliberatly go down in to a crevass in the ice fields of Patagonia. He also scooped the insides out of a camel so he could sleep inside the carcass! I guess he gets paid a lot of money by someone, but he is mad. I probably would eat a bird-pecked strawberry but I've got an iron constitution!
