Happy Birthday to Me

Yesterday was my birthday. Thanks to those who remembered. Don't worry about it to those who didn't. It gives me a perfectly good excuse to forget yours.

I had a great day. We were having a new bay window fitted from 10 until about 3, so I got out of bed to let the blokes in and then grabbed the paper and a couple of mugs of tea, leaving them to get on with it, while I headed back to bed to open my pressies. I got a TomTom 920 from Nikki as well as a couple of other pressies that were actually surprises, since I haven't been hinting about them for 2 months.

When Nikki and I emerged a few hours later the windows were mostly done, and after a couple of phones calls to and from the family and a delicious lunch of cheese, I pottered about with cleaning the pool filter for 3 hours. Nothing better than an afternoon in the sunshine, lifting huge, incredibly heavy, soaking wet, cartridges coated in algae to make me feel like I'd earned the delicious birthday lasagna Nikki had cooked for me. A couple of nice glasses of wine and a healthy bowl of three kinds of fantastic sorbet finished off my day wonderfully.

Ahhhhhhhhh! I even KNEW it was your birthday yesterday! Crap.

Happy be-lated birthday nonetheless, Ian! I apologize for not calling, writing, texting or sending a card. I know, I know. . . it's okay when you forget mine. Though that's kinda hard b/c mine is right before Nikki's.

Ha!

At least this year you didn't ruin your back fixing the pool filter. Right?

Happy birthday! I look forward to another (wiser?) year of snarky comments from you.

Bugger. I remembered it was your birthday about three days ago and then promptly forgot again. In my defence, I'm possibly not getting enough sleep right now and have other things on my mind.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Ian. I'll have to open my last bottle of Paradox in your honour.

Mmmmmmmh Sorbet! Man that stuff's good! Wonder if it would stay frozen in a cool box long enough to send to Cyprus?? ;-)

Jen: Nope, no ruined back this time. My wife gently explained this new lifting technique to me, I think it's called - 'Bend your bloody knees'

Mindy: Thanks. Let's just aim for 'another' first and treat 'wiser' as a bonus if it happens.

Shanks: No problem, figured you might have more important things on your mind. Enjoy the Paradox.

Fi: It might make it to Cyprus, but it would have to get out of our house first. That would be the tricky part.

Happy belated birthday Ian! I didn't remember as my brain has gone. I'm typing one--handed as Magnus is only quiet when being held... help! my arm is very sore! Iain is out running so I can't pass him on. Are you looking forward to the footy on thurs?

Thanks. You definitely have an excuse. I am looking forward to Thursday. Not with much expectation of victory, but it's just great to be looking at this sort of match again. Sadly, I don't think it's going to be on telly over here. Will have to check the Setanta schedule to be sure.

it is on setanta i think. Iain is watching it on a mate's home cinema thingy. His Dad is going to the game. I'll be left with the kids.

Sadly, American Setanta is showing Spartak Moscow vs. Marseilles or Bayer Leverkusen vs. Galatasaray. Yet another reason I really ought to cancel it.

That's a shame that you won't get to see it. There's been uproar here because BBC have the rights and are choosing to show the Rangers game instead as they are on at the same time. There's talk that we might get the game by pressing the red button on the freeview but the Evening Express tonight reported that the BBC have refused that. Northsound DJs are urging the folk of the North East to boycott the BBC! I suppose there's always the radio! Do you think they'll win anyway?
